Kinetura is a concept design for a tower whose skin dynamically shifts from seemingly solid and impenetrable to light and porous in response to (supposedly) environmental conditions.
As pretty as it may look in the shiny video presentation, I do think the reality of such a system would be visually and sonically much heavier. As with all “kinetic” architectural systems (e.g. Aegis Hypersurface experiments) it is interesting to consider the way that they would contribute to and influence their sonic contexts. Spinning, turning, wizzing electrical motors, or maybe the hissing of steam as it pushes thousands of micro hydraulic pistons in a steam punk version? Could be fun!
